We are currently looking to hire an
Experimental Officer to support academics and students in the
Division of Psychology and Language Sciences at UCL. The post is
based in Chandler House, which houses those of us working on
speech, hearing and language, and involves supporting staff with
research in Phonetics, Audiology, Linguistics &
Neuroscience.
There are opportunities to support teaching and to develop
knowledge through general technical support for diverse research
projects, as well as more in-depth involvement in specific
research projects.
Key responsibilities:
management of several testing chambers, including an
anechoic chamber
maintenance of research computing and electronic hardware
used for producing precisely controlled stimuli, and for
measuring and recording a variety of physiological responses to
it, e.g.
fNIRS, EEG, eye tracking,
pupillometry, ultrasound, TMS, Electromagnetic articulography
demonstrating and explaining the use of the facilities and
equipment in support of teaching and research
installing, interfacing and managing computer systems,
including tasks such as data capture, storage, analysis.
Key qualifications & experience:
a qualification in a subject relevant to electrical and
electronic engineering and acoustic engineering or a relevant
language science qualification.
an understanding of the requirements of high-quality audio
recording with experience in the development and repair of
electronic devices.
