Dear All,

Our next speaker in the Hearing Sciences Seminar Series is Dr Eldré Beukes (Thursday 12th May at 2 pm (UK)).  Eldré is a lecturer in audiology with expertise in auditory pathologies and intervention development. She is a clinical scientist in Audiology at the Anglia Ruskin University. Details can be found below:

Title:

“The wider impact of tinnitus and tinnitus interventions on significant others”

Outline:

Although chronic conditions could cause third-party disability for significant others, little is known regarding the impact of tinnitus on significant others. Significant others are furthermore not often included during tinnitus interventions. This talk outlines research that has been undertaken looking at the wider impact of tinnitus and predictors of this impact. It also outlines the indirect effect of a tinnitus intervention for individuals with tinnitus on third-party disability for significant others. The talk discusses research regarding a novel shared intervention that includes significant others and how this can mitigate the negative effects tinnitus may have.
