[AUDITORY] ASL instructor position - University of Illinois

Non-Tenure Track Instructor in American Sign Language (ASL)

 

Position: The University of Illinois Department of Speech and Hearing Science (SHS) (http://shs.illinois.edu) is seeking to recruit an outstanding candidate for a regular, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position to teach undergraduate-level language courses in American Sign Language.

 

Proposed Starting Date: August 16, 2022.

 

Responsibilities:  Contribute to teaching needs in the undergraduate program, from among ASL I to ASL III and language and culture of Deaf communities, develop and deliver online courses, as needed, and participate in departmental committees. There are also opportunities to contribute to program development and expand course offerings in ASL.

 

Qualifications:  Applicants must hold a B.A/B.S degree with native or near-native proficiency in ASL.  

Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and/or certifications and demonstrated evidence of excellence in ASL and Deaf culture course instruction.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with experience.

College faculty are active in interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues in the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Carle Illinois College of Medicine as well as the Neuroscience Program, the Center for Social and Behavioral Science, and the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Initiative.
