Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Hearing Science

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Child Hearing Lab (PI: Viji Easwar) at the Waisman Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison, is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work on projects that use electroencephalography (EEG) and behavioral methods to understand developmental aspects of speech encoding during early childhood.

Salary: NIH postdoc pay rate (depending on experience)

Percent time: 100%

Anticipated start date: Fall 2020

Anticipated end date: Fall 2023 (The fellowship is a 3-year appointment, funded by the NIH)

Requirements: Ph.D. in Hearing Science, Audiology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Physics/ Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines is required. Technical skills in signal processing and programming are highly desired. Previous research experience in EEG, neuroplasticity, psychoacoustics, and clinical audiology certification are desired but not mandatory.

Summary of job duties: The position will involve setting up experiments, data collection/overseeing data collection, analysis, and research dissemination. The position involves collaboration with Dr. Sriram Boothalingam (University of Wisconsin, Madison) on calibration-related aspects. Several Doctor of Audiology and undergraduate students take part in research in the lab providing mentorship opportunities for the postdoctoral fellow. Opportunities to gain experience in other audiological measures like otoacoustic emissions are available through collaborations at the Waisman Center.

The University of Wisconsin, Madison has a rich history of hearing research with researchers spanning across departments such as Communication Sciences and Disorders, Neuroscience, Anesthesiology, Otolaryngology, and Population Health Sciences. The environment is collegial and highly conducive for research and sharing ideas. The Waisman Center, where the lab is located, houses more than 50 researchers from 27 departments working towards understanding human development and developmental disabilities and has several graduate students and postdocs, providing an excellent community for peer networking.
