[AUDITORY] PhD/postdoc vacancy: EEG and audio processing for neuro-steered hearing aids

Dear colleagues,

Thank you for forwarding this advertisement for two positions at the University of Leuven, Belgium, to any interested party.

We have a  PhD and Post-doc position on a joint project between the research group ExpORL, Dept. Neurosciences (Tom Francart) and the research group ESAT-STADIUS, Dept. Electrical Engineering (Alexander Bertrand). The long-term goal of this project is to design smart hearing devices that can be controlled by the brain.

Topic: EEG and audio processing for neuro-steered hearing aids:

·         adaptive signal processing and/or machine learning methods to perform auditory attention decoding, and use these in EEG experiments

·         a brain-computer interface set-up for real-time (closed loop) attention decoding with EEG and perform experiments on subjects

Candidates need a degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or similar, and good machine learning, signal processing and programming skills. Excellent English proficiency is required as well as a strong interest in auditory perception and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team. Knowledge of human neurophysiology and psychology of hearing is a strong plus.
