[AUDITORY] Post-Doc Positions in Auditory Neurophysiology

The Apostolides Lab (www.apostolideslab.org) at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) has multiple openings for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to understand the synaptic and cellular bases of auditory perception.

Our primary techniques are patch-clamp electrophysiology and 2-photon imaging in brain slices and in behaving mice. Multiple projects are now up and running, generously funded by grants from the Whitehall Foundation and Hearing Health Foundation.

Key questions we want to answer:
-How do neural circuits extract meaningful information from noisy or ambiguous sound streams?
-How do long-range feedback loops in the central auditory system control perception?
-To what extent do neuromodulators control specific cell-types in central auditory circuits?
-What are the mechanisms governing synaptic plasticity in hearing disorders?

The Apostolides Lab is the newest member of the Kresge Hearing Research Institute (KHRI), University of Michigan Medical School. KHRI and the neuroscience community at the U-M provide a highly supportive and diverse research environment, with excellent career development opportunities for postdoctoral fellows.

Located less than an hour from the Canadian border, Ann Arbor is consistently rated one of the best places to live in the USA due to affordability, a vibrant arts and culture scene, and easy access to outdoor adventure.

To Apply: Please send a brief statement of career goals, C.V. and contact info of three references to Pierre Apostolides, Ph.D. (piaposto@xxxxxxxxxxxxx).
