[AUDITORY] Postdoctoral fellowship in Auditory Perception with CIs and HAs

Dear List,

I am inviting applications for a post-doctoral fellow to join my laboratory at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon.

A postdoctoral position is available with a focus on binaural spectral processing with cochlear implants and hearing aids.   This position is supported for up to 3 years by a recently renewed NIH/NIDCD R01 grant.  Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience, Psychology, Psychoacoustics, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related fields.  The candidate should have strong oral and written English communication skills, and experience with psychophysical experiments, computational modeling, signal processing, and programming in C++ and MATLAB.

Main responsibilities include:

-        Research on binaural pitch fusion, and how it relates to peripheral resolution and to auditory scene analysis

-        Research on speech fusion, and physiologically-based computational modeling of the results

-        Development/programming of experiments in C++ and MATLAB, including direct stimulation of cochlear implants

-        Presentation and publication of results

Additional opportunities:

-        Teaching experience: both didactic lecture formats and informal mentoring of students.

-        Grant submission is also encouraged and supported as part of postdoctoral training.

Environment:

We are part of one of the major auditory research centers in the U.S., with several basic science, psychoacoustics, and speech perception faculty at the Oregon Hearing Research Center (OHRC) and the Portland VA National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR).  This is a rich environment for academic interaction and collaboration.

Interested applicants should email a cover letter, curriculum vita, copies of paper reprints, and contact information three references to Lina Reiss, Ph.D., at reiss@xxxxxxxx
