My colleague Malte Kob at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and his student Stefanos Ioannou are conducting an online experiment on how many violins it takes to sound like a section and the effect on this perception of different microphone placements designed by Tonmeister Martha de Francisco at McGill University.
