Project Description A PhD position is available as part of the “Monitoring of Auditory-nerve Integrity after Noise Exposure (EarDiMon)” project funded by the special research budget of Ghent University, Belgium. We aim to develop
technologies around detecting and monitoring early signatures of hearing loss. The project is a collaboration between the Hearing Technology lab of Prof. Verhulst, Prof. Torfs at IDLab (Dept. of Information Technology) and Profs. Dhooge and Keppler at Ghent
University Hospital (Depts. Otolaryngology and Audiology). Your role will be the development and testing of new technologies for hearing loss screening and monitoring in recreational noise exposure settings. Measurements will include EEG recordings and audiological
assessment (in collaboration with an audiology PhD student). We offer an international and interdisciplinary research environment and access to world-class research facilities (waves.intec.ugent.be/hearing-technology and gasp.ugent.be). Funding is available
for 4 years provided positive intermediate evaluations. Job Profile Applicants should hold an academic university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Engineering (Electrical/Computer, Acoustical, Biomedical), Engineering Physics. Coding skills (Python, Matlab) and digital signal
processing knowledge are essential, experience with electronic components, IC, wireless and smartphone technologies, as well as sound applications are a big plus. Excellent written and oral English skills are required and knowledge of the Dutch language preferred.
