POSITION SUMMARY
The Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education at Utah State University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning August 2019. Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining an independent program of research in the candidate's area of expertise, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and participating in departmental and university service. Review of applicants will begin January 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. 

1. Conduct research and other scholarly activities related to audiology/hearing science
2. Obtain extramural funding
3. Teach 2 courses per semester, course releases are negotiable with external funding
4. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students
5. Serve on and chair graduate student research committees
6. Provide service to university, community, state, and profession

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Audiology, Hearing Science, or related field (ABD candidates will be considered but all requirements must be completed by August 1, 2019). Candidates must show evidence of the ability to develop research program that can be supported by external funding, potential for excellence in teaching, and a commitment to collaboration. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record, demonstrated success in obtaining external funding, and experience in graduate student mentoring. The department has research and teaching needs in the areas of pediatric audiology, amplification across the lifespan, and electrophysiology, but candidates with other areas of specialization will be considered. ASHA CCC-A certification preferred but not required.

DEPARTMENT AND UNIVERSITY
Founded in 1888, USU is Utah's only land grant institution and the largest public residential campus in Utah, enrolling approximately 18,000 students at the main campus in Logan. The College of Education & Human Services is ranked 6th in the nation in total research dollars. The department includes more than 40 research and clinical faculty, academic instructors, and advisors across three divisions of Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and Deaf Education. The department offers several degrees including campus and online bachelor's degrees in communicative disorders and a clinical doctorate in audiology. The department offers a non-clinical master's degree and strands in audiology in the interdisciplinary PhD program in Disability Disciplines, as well as an interdisciplinary PhD in Neuroscience. The department includes a full-service adult audiology clinic (hearing and balance) in the new, state-of-the-art Sorenson Center for Clinical Excellence, a pediatric clinic, a cochlear implant clinic, and a listening and spoken language program (Sound Beginnings) for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.  USU also houses the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management. Research faculty benefit from state-of-the-art facilities with attractive research start-up, college-level grant management and statistical support, and competitive internal university research funding. Current externally funded research, training, and technical assistance projects in the department total over $5.5 million.
 
COMMUNITY
Logan, Utah is a dynamic and thriving city with a low cost of living situated in the scenic high mountains of Cache Valley in northern Utah. Outdoor activities nearby include world class hiking, biking, skiing, and water sports. Regional areas of interest include seven national parks such as Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Zion, and Arches, and the international ski destinations of  Park City, UT and Jackson Hole, WY. Logan is located in a rapidly growing community of approximately 125,000 inhabitants, located 80 miles north of Salt Lake City.
