The Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN) is an institute for basic scientific research dedicated to investigating the mechanisms of learning and memory on the molecular, cellular and systems levels. With its broad spectrum of animal and human experimental research approaches and its modern technical facilities, the LIN is one of the cornerstones of Magdeburg as a centre for neurosciences.

We are seeking, at the earliest opportunity, a highly motivated

*PhD student (f/m/d)*

for a project covering

*small animal magnetic resonance tomography (MRT),*

*animal behavior and neuronal tract tracing*

for a three-year appointment with a salary of TV-L E13 (50% in the 1th year and 65% in the 2^nd and 3^rd year).

*Your role*

Within your PhD project, i.e., the completion of your PhD thesis, you will mainly perform functional magnetic resonance imaging on rodents during auditory stimulation using an ultra-high field small animal MRT. You will also test these animals in behavioral experiments and trace and manipulate (photolytic ablation) neuronal connections.

*Your profile***

·a completed university degree (master, diploma or similar qualification) in neuroscience, biology, medicine or a related natural science

·some experience in small animal MRT, behavioral and/or anatomical approaches would be beneficial

·willingness to learn new imaging, anatomical, behavioral and related techniques

·an innovative spirit and enjoyment of working in an international team
