[AUDITORY] Assistant or Associate Professor position in Audiology and Hearing Rehabilitation

Dear List,

We offer an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Audiology and Hearing Rehabilitation.

This is a joint position at the Hearing Systems Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering (at the Technical University of Denmark) and at the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) & Audiology Clinic at Rigshopitalet, Copenhagen University Hospital, Denmark. Research and education are integrated both in the activities of the Hearing Systems group and the ENT & Audiology Clinic in Copenhagen.

A major goal of this position is to facilitate the translation of research between university and clinical settings. Overall, we aim to translate new advances in basic auditory science into increased understanding of auditory dysfunction and pathophysiology, and to provide insights that are useful for clinical and technical applications, such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, speech recognition systems and hearing diagnostics.

Teaching activities in hearing research are conducted at undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels. Both the Hearing Systems group at DTU and the research group at Rigshospitalet engage in DTU’s international MSc program in Engineering Acoustics.

The candidate should be comfortable in both university and clinical research settings and must be able to demonstrate a solid scientific knowledge and research experience in at least one, and some experience in another of the following areas:

  • Hearing evaluation and clinical diagnostic techniques
  • Hearing assistive devices (e.g., hearing aids, cochlear implants)
  • Clinical and technical audiology
  • Psychoacoustic and objective measures of hearing function
  • Objective measures of complex sounds (e.g., speech, music) in the auditory system
  • General technical knowledge for solving minor daily technical equipment errors together with a team of other engineers/technicians

In cooperation with the other scientific staff, we expect participation in both fundamental and advanced level education of students with the main focus on joint University/clinical research projects.
