[AUDITORY] Professorship at MacQuarie University
Dear Colleagues,
Please see below an announcement of a Professorship. Please address
enquiries to the people mentioned in the announcement, not to
me.
Best wishes,
Brian Moore
Cochlear Chair in Hearing and Health Ageing
Macquarie University
Macquarie is a university engaged with the real and often complex
problems and opportunities that define our lives. Since our foundation 54
years ago, we have aspired to be a different type of university: one
unbound by ivory towers and sandstone walls. Rather, we are focused on
fostering collaboration between students, academics, industry and
society, encouraging all to traverse the boundaries of their own
perspective and affect change.
The Role
As a joint venture, Macquarie University and Cochlear Limited are
establishing a Cochlear Chair in Hearing and Healthy Aging. As a
world-leading academic with an outstanding international reputation, this
role will deliver globally impactful research and teaching in the field
of healthy ageing, with a particular focus on the unique role that the
hearing sense plays.
A major ongoing collaboration for the University is with Cochlear
Limited, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions. The Cochlear
Chair in Hearing and Healthy Ageing will align Cochlear?s focus with the
University?s commitments in hearing research and education, as well as
clinical practice and advocacy and providing a platform for further
impactful hearing research in Australia. As such, the Cochlear Chair will
serve as the nexus between Macquarie University hearing research streams
and will take a life course perspective on when, in whom, why and how to
intervene.
The Cochlear Chair will have the opportunity to work with world-leading
academics across the University?s considerable hearing research profile
including hearing, health and aged care and health economy. You will work
extensively with leading hearing organisations such as members of the
Australian Hearing Hub to strengthen commercial and research partnerships
and further develop impactful hearing research opportunities.
The Successful Applicant
The successful applicant will have international research standing
with demonstrated capacity to inspire and engage with colleagues in
achieving success; well-developed leadership skills and extensive
experience in research supervision; demonstrated experience in making a
significant contribution to academic life; and administrative leadership
with a track record of effective team work and collegiality as well as
experience of building collaborations across institutions and developing
ongoing partnerships with industry and professional bodies.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an ambitious leader who is
passionate, engaged and determined to make a difference.
