Call for Abstracts and Clinical-Research Grant:
The Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) invites all clinicians, students, researchers,
educators, policy makers and other professional or health care providers working with hearing or balance to submit original research for presentation (by poster and/or at the podium) at the 21st Annual CAA Conference and Exhibition, held from October
17-20, 2018 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
CAA is also inviting clinicians and students to apply for a Clinical-Research Grant, for which recipients will be announced at the 2018 CAA conference.
ABSTRACTS: The Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) is now welcoming all professionals and students to submit abstracts for poster
and podium presentations at the 21st Annual CAA Conference and Exhibition to be held on
October 17-20, 2018, in Niagara Falls, ON, Canada.
The deadline for abstract submission is Sunday JULY 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm, EST.
Submissions will be reviewed for acceptance by the CAA Science and Education Committee (SaEC). Posters may be eligible for entry into the Outstanding Student Research Award held during the conference. A few abstracts will be selected for a short presentation of poster highlights in the Poster Blitz Session. Accepted abstracts will be advertised on the CAA website and in the Canadian Audiologist Journal. Accepted abstract presenters will be offered the opportunity to publish their presented work in the Canadian Audiologist and/or on the online CAA Blog. Presenters may be interviewed for the CAA website, the CAA Blog, and/or the Canadian Audiologist. For further details and abstract guidelines, please visit the CAA Website. CLINICAL-RESEARCH GRANT: The Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) Clinical-Research Grant aims to support individuals proposing
to investigate a new and unique research question related to hearing and/or balance. Financial support includes either one award of up to $5,000, or two awards of up to $2,500, depending on available funds and the number of applications. Applicants will be
offered support by the CAA Science and Education Committee (SaEC) to help coordinate access to proper resources, as needed.
The deadline for applicants needing assistance from CAA SaEC for arranging mentors and other support is Sunday JULY 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm, EST. The deadline for the complete application is
Wednesday AUGUST 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm, EST.
The application package must include a proposal, curriculum vitae, letter of commitment from a research mentor and letter of support from your employer (if applicable). Award recipients will be announced at the annual 2017 CAA conference, on the CAA website, in the CAA Blog and in the Canadian Audiologist. Successful applicants are required to present their findings at a CAA conference (registration fees to be waived for one presenter at this event only) and publish their findings in a journal or magazine of their choice (e.g., Canadian Audiologist) within five years from the date of the award.
