[AUDITORY] Postdoc position in CIs at University of Maryland

University of Maryland-Baltimore and College Park

Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Audiologist in Perception, Genetics, and Cochlear Implants with Translational Focus

Deadline: March 15, 2018

The Maryland Cochlear Implant Center of Excellence (MCICE) leverages the existing strengths of University of Maryland-Baltimore School of Medicine (UMB), the University of Maryland-College Park (UMCP), and the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) to build a cohesive entity composed of educational, clinical, and research components (https://mcice.umd.edu/).

The project is funded by the State of Maryland’s MPower Initiative, supporting collaboration across campuses. MCICE is offering a full-time research position (either a postdoctoral or research audiologist) to work on joint translational research projects with cochlear implants.

The researchers will work with Dr. Matthew Goupell (UMCP) and Dr. Ronna Hertzano (UMB), as well as other auditory neuroscience researchers at both institutions, including those in the Center for Comparative Evolutionary Biology of Hearing (CCEBH, https://www.ccebh.umd.edu/). The primary appointment will be at UMCP.

A successful applicant should have a PhD, AuD, or other comparable doctoral degree. The doctoral degree should be in hearing science, communicative disorders, engineering, and/or other related fields. The researcher should be detail oriented and highly organized.

Responsibilities may include perception testing, audiological/clinical testing, cochlear-implant programming at both UMB and UMCP, as well as administrative duties to perform joint research projects and help with grant writing. Background/experience in genetics or electrophysiology is not necessary, but would be a bonus. Preference will be given to those who have a good mix of research, clinical, and administrative skills.

The positions will be filled from earliest March 15, 2018 for a period of 12 months with a possibility of continuation.

To apply:

Please complete an online application at https://ejobs.umd.edu (job position #104610).  Required material include a CV, cover letter, unofficial transcript, and online reference names and email addresses of two or more reference providers.  Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.  For best consideration, submit your application by March 15, 2018.  For questions, contact Matthew Goupell via email goupell@xxxxxxx.
