[AUDITORY] PhD in User driven diagnostics and fitting, deadline January 9, 2018

Dear colleagues,

A fully funded PhD stipend in Patient-driven diagnostics and hearing-aid fitting is open for application at Aalborg University.

Hearing-care practitioners have only limited time for a hearing-aid fitting, and often most of the powerful features of modern hearing aids are not or only to a very limited extent fitted to the individual needs of the hearing impaired. A patient-driven process may also provide an advantage to users that may benefit from controlling progress themselves, but the user control may also result in non-optimal adaptation to the aided situation.

The present project will investigate the pros and cons of a patient-driven process, utilizing a subset of diagnostics and hearing aids, which offer solutions for user control.

The position is part of a Danish project collaboration for better hearing rehabilitation (BEAR-hearing.dk) with financial support from the Innovation Foundation Denmark and partners (incl. Widex, GN Resound, Oticon, DELTA a part of Force, the University of Southern Denmark, the Danish Technical University, and the University Hospitals in Odense, Aalborg and Copenhagen). The case populations, methods and technological platforms for the study are determined in close collaboration with other partners, and utilizing on-going work.
