A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Speech and Hearing Research group of the Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield. The position is to work on a Google Faculty Award funded project, DeepArt, that will be using articulatory representations and deep learning to develop robust automatic speech recognition systems for dysarthric speakers.

The Speech and Hearing (SPandH) research group at Sheffield has an international reputation for research in the fields of computational hearing, speech perception, speech technology and its applications. The group is part of a Computer Science department that was ranked 5th out of 89 departments in the UK in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.
Key Requirements
The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant area, experience in speech signal processing, and a proven ability to conduct high-quality original research and prepare results for publication. Other essential skills include experience in scientific programming, an ability to work effectively as part of a team and written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience with automatic speech recognition would be desirable.
