PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience

The Brainlab - Cognitive Neuroscience Research Group (http://www.ub.edu/brainlab/) can support your application to the official PhD fellowship programs launched yearly by the Catalan and Spanish governments. Successful applicants will receive a 3-4 year scholarship to carry out their PhD at the Brainlab in the framework of the Universitat de Barcelona's PhD program in Biomedicine (http://www.ub.edu/doctorat_biomedicina/eng/index.htm).
The PhD scholarships
Two programs exist from the Catalan and the Spanish governments respectively, which award a stipend of circa 15.000 EUR/year to outstanding students to carry out their PhD studies. Applications must be backed up by the prospective PhD advisor. Each PI can support one application to each of this programs yearly. The PhD program
Successful applicants will join the Universitat de Barcelona's PhD Program in Biomedicine (http://www.ub.edu/doctorat_biomedicina/eng/index.htm), and its Neuroscience research area.
Preliminary acceptance to the PhD program is required to be able to apply for the PhD scholarship. Information on enrollment procedures and requirements can be found here (http://www.ub.edu/doctorat_biomedicina/eng/preins.htm).
The PhD project
The PhD project will be carried out within the frame of the project "TEMPLATES: Exploring sensory templates for predictive processing through motor-sensory associations"(http://www.ub.edu/brainlab/a-new-research-project-of-brainlab-granted-to-iria-sanmiguel/) (PI: Dr. Iria SanMiguel), in which we investigate how voluntary actions shape perception, and how the interactions between action and perception give rise to the sense of agency (for ore information visit the project website (http://www.ub.edu/brainlab/research-post/predictive-processes-in-motor-sensory-interactions/))
Requirements:
1. Background in he fields of Psychology, Cognitive Sciences, Computer Sciences, Medicine, Biology, Engineering or Physics, and a passion for neuroscience.
2. Finished Master's degree. Specifically with a total of 300 ECTS completed in your undergraduate education, of which at least 60 ECTS must be in a Master degree.
3. EU citizenship.
4. Outstanding academic marks. Only those with the highest average grade, in both their bachelor's adn master's degrees, are successful. The final cut-off mark for obtaining a stipend has been around 8.5 in the last calls. Thus, i your mark is lower, we will not be able to support your application.
