Re: Sound Quality measurement-tests

For speech quality there is ITU-T Rec. P.863 POLQA (Perceptual Objective Listening Quality)

http://www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=16830

For audio quality there is ITU-R Rec. BS.1387 PEAQ (Perceptual Evaluation of Audio Quality)

http://www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=12078

Hi Ganesh,

I don’t know that there’s a single standardized test for Sound Quality, but there are a few good options available.  There was a good review published last year on the topic:

Falk, T. H., Parsa, V., Santos, J. F., Arehart, K., Hazrati, O., Huber, R., Kates, J., Scollie, S. (2015). Objective Quality and Intelligibility Prediction for Users of Assistive Listening Devices. IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, (February), 114–124. http://doi.org/10.1109/MSP.2014.2358871

And Philip Loizou’s work has touched on the subject a few times, perhaps the most useful reference will be:

Chen, F., & Loizou, P. C. (2011). Predicting the Intelligibility of Vocoded Speech. The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 32, 331–338. http://doi.org/10.1121/1.3570957

Hope these help,

Adam Bosen

Dear all,

I am looking for the standardized test for measurement of Sound Quality, particularly for adults with Cochlear Implants. Is anyone aware of it?

Regards
