Closing date : Sunday 06 March 2016
Reference : 006616
Department : Music & Media
Employment type : Permanent
Location : Guildford
Salary : £34,576 to £46,414 per annum
We are seeking applications for the post of Lecturer in Audio, in the Institute of Sound Recording (IoSR), to teach on the undergraduate BMus/BSc Tonmeister® programme in Music and Sound Recording, and to conduct world-leading research in the field.
You will be expected to teach on the Tonmeister undergraduate programme, covering two or more of the following areas: audio signal processing, audio programming, computer audio systems, electronics, research methods, and sound synthesis. You will join a strong and vibrant research group with existing funded projects focused on the engineering of audio tools informed by psychoacoustics, but will be encouraged to develop your own research profile and produce high-quality research outputs including books and articles published in highly-ranked academic journals. You will also be expected to supervise postgraduate research students and visit students on professional training placements.
There is opportunity to collaborate with various groups across the University; in addition to collaboration with colleagues in Music, previous and current projects involved the Department of Psychology, and the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP). Furthermore, there are exciting opportunities afforded by the recent development of programmes in Digital Media Arts, and Film and Video Production Technology, resulting in a significant hub of research and teaching at Surrey in the area of media production and technology.
For an informal discussion you may wish to contact Dr Russell Mason (Tonmeister Programme Director) at r.mason@xxxxxxxxxxxx, or Professor Tony Myatt (Head of Music and Media) at t.myatt@xxxxxxxxxxxx.
