[AUDITORY] Postdoc research position available at Birkbeck, University of London

This fixed-term postdoctoral fellowship will support work on a Wellcome Trust funded project entitled “Speech perception in amusia.” The project will develop a behavioural and functional magnetic resonance imaging battery designed to test the hypothesis that amusics compensate for their deficit by focusing on durational information in speech. The project will combine behavioural testing with task-based fMRI along with quantitative structural MRI.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with the development and analysis of behavioural experimental methods and structural and functional MRI, as well as experience with programming and scientific writing. The successful candidate will a) collaborate in the design and piloting of the experimental protocols and imaging techniques; b) recruit young adult participants; c) scan the participants along with the PI, and conduct behavioural testing; d) preprocess and analyse data; and e) lead or help write up the results of the studies (depending on the level of experience of the postdoctoral fellow).
