Auditory List, I wanted to post a reminder about a studentship offered by the Scottish Section of the Medical Research Council's Institute of Hearing Research. The studentship is offered in conjunction with the University of Glasgow and would put the student right at the heart of an emerging and exciting field of hearing research. Our facility has state of the art motion tracking systems that are integrated with our acoustic presentation software. Combined with large arrays of loudspeakers in sound treated acoustic booths, this lets us have fine control over the way acoustic environments move around listeners as they move. Here is the formal listing of the studentship that explores how age and hearing impairment affects our ability to integrate self motion and acoustic motion. This web page also includes a description of the motion illusion that lies at the core of the project. I'd greatly appreciate if list members might bring this note to the attention of promising students, especially those who may have had some experience with Matlab and/or MaxMSP.
