Postdoctoral position
Northeastern University, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

A post-doctoral researcher position is currently available in the Auditory Prostheses and Communication Laboratory, led by Dr. Ying-Yee Kong, at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

 

Our research aims to investigate the mechanisms underlying degraded speech recognition and to develop technologies to improve speech recognition performance. The successful candidate will be given opportunities to participate in a variety of projects, such as electrophysiological recordings using EEG, behavioral testing, computational modeling, and/or development of speech enhancement algorithms. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in speech and hearing sciences, psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, engineering, or a related discipline. Ideal candidates should have a strong technical background (Matlab, signal processing), strong problem-solving skills and ability to think independently, keen interest in interdisciplinary research, and importantly, perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge.

 

Individuals with strengths in related areas, such as electrophysiology, machine learning, and algorithm development are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience with cochlear implants and hearing aids is a plus, but not required. Good English language and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
