Applications are invited for appointment
as Post-doctoral Fellow in Chinese Speech Perception
Revised: Speech Perception of Chinese Speakers with and without Hearing
Impairment in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences of the Faculty of
Education, to commence as
soon as possible for a period of three years.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree
in Speech and Hearing Sciences. The appointee is expected to have substantial
experience and knowledge in speech and pitch perception in Chinese, speech
analysis and processing, designing and evaluating speech processing strategies,
and have demonstrated an ability to conduct the proposed research project as
well as a track record in publication. The expected role of the appointee
includes:
1. To design and conduct speech and
psychophysical experiments with Chinese speakers with and without hearing
impairment to understand Chinese speech perception;
2. To evaluate the impact of signal
processing technologies in hearing aids and cochlear implants on Chinese speech
perception;
3. To analyze experimental results to
better understand the speech perception performance of Chinese speakers in
various listening tasks, e.g., tone identification and sentence perception in
noise and reverberation;
4. To publish experimental results in
peer-review journals and major international conferences in the area of hearing
sciences.
He/She will be expected to work under the supervision of Dr. Lena Wong.
