Head of Hearing and Balance Centre and Chair in Hearing Science
This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional individual to lead an internationally renowned centre for hearing and balance, which brings together researchers, teachers and clinicians in an environment closely aligned with clinical practice. The Hearing and Balance Centre (HABC) undertakes high impact research to improve the quality of life for the hearing and balance impaired. It is formed of a multi-disciplinary team of twelve academic staff, and offers opportunities for close collaboration with the South of England Cochlear Implant Centre which manages and services the needs of more than 800 implant recipients. HABC sits within the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research in the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment, with strong links to signal processing research within the Faculty, and links across the University to Health Sciences and Medicine. We seek to appoint an individual who combines an outstanding personal record of research with strategic leadership and management skills. The successful candidate will exploit and leverage the existing strengths of HABC, while expanding the scope and scale of its activities.
Operating within a world class University with an excellent research base, a commitment to inter-disciplinary research is essential; the successful candidate’s personal qualities and leadership ability will be as important in this appointment as more discipline-specific achievements.
An attractive salary is available, reflecting the level of experience and achievement.
