Dear all,

I'm very saddened to share with you the news about passing away of
dear friend and colleague Philip Loizou, a pioneer in the field of
cochlear implants and speech processing:

My first scientific encounter with cochlear implants was Philip's
wonderful review "Mimicking the human ear" (IEEE Signal Process Mag,
1998, 15, 101-130) and which probably determined my scientific career
in the CI field.
