The music department of Hochschule Luzern invites applications for the following position:

VISITING PROFESSOR IN PERFORMANCE SCIENCE

Employment level: Full-time, for 10 months

Salary: CHF 83k to 87k (presently ~ â69k to 72k), depending on qualifications and experience

Application deadline: 30 September 2012

DESCRIPTION: The successful applicant will support the department in developing a focus on empirical music research. This includes:

â conducting independent research on performance, particularly focussing on music perception and appreciation,

â transmitting his/her knowledge on quantitative and qualitative research methods to other members of the department

â developing and submitting applications for external funding,

â encouraging communication between researchers and artists of the department who are interested in performance research by organizing colloquia/workshops,

â teaching performance science to students.

The applicant should be:

â motivated to transmit his/her knowledge to the members of the department,

â interested in conducting research on a variety of aspects related to the performance of music,

â interested in different disciplinary approaches and research methods.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must

â hold a PhD in performance science or a related field (like music psychology),

â have at least five years of research/teaching experience after completing their PhD,

â have good knowledge of quantitative methods/statistics and experimental design,

â be experienced in preparing, designing, and running research projects,

â have solid English language skills, and preferably basic knowledge in German.

Preference will be given to scholars with additional solid knowledge in qualitative research methods and cultural studies.
