Special Session on Biologically-Inspired Multimedia Signal Processing at ISSAP'12, Montreal, extension deadline

Special Session on Biologically-Inspired Multimedia Signal Processing

The 11th International Conference on Information Science,

Signal Processing and their Applications (ISSPA’12)

3th-5th July 2012 Montreal, Canada.

Although significant progress has been made in the field of signal processing in the past decades, the capability of humans to analyze sensory signals largely outperform conventional signal processing methods. This difference in performance is even more pronounced in the fields such as vision, pattern recognition, auditory scene analysis, sound source separation and information coding. The superority of the human processing over conventional signal processing techniques is mainly due to the the fact that the human brain treats the sensory signals very differently. The human cognition relies on spiking neurons, heavily inter-connected neural networks, hierarchy, sparsity, and synchrony to analyze and decode sensory inputs.

The aim of this ISSPA’12 special session is to present the latest theoretical and practical advances in the field of biologically-inspired multimedia signal processing. Submissions are invited for the areas of biologically-inspired signal processing methods for audio, video and image applications or theoretical advances in biologically-inspired information coding.

Prospective authors are invited to submit full length (six pages) papers following the formatting guidelines available in the author-kit at"http://www.synchromedia.ca/isspa2012/en/submission.html"; . All papers submitted to this session must include a clear link to the topic of the session. All papers will be subjected to a blind peer-review process by the conference technical program committee and review board.

All accepted papers will be included in the ISSPA 2012 Conference Proceedings. All papers accepted will be included in IEEE Xplore. Authors of accepted papers are expected to register and present their papers at the Conference.
