ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR position in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND - COLLEGE PARK
ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, COLLEGE PARK. The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences (CAA-accredited) invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Audiology/Hearing Science, beginning August 2012. Qualifications for the faculty position include an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or dual degree Au.D./Ph.D.) in audiology, hearing science, or related area. Expertise in electrophysiology, amplification, or aural rehabilitation is preferred, but other areas of expertise will be considered. Applicants should demonstrate a publication record, teaching experience, and history of external funding commensurate with level of appointment. CCC-A or ABA Certification is strongly preferred. Responsibilities include establishing an independent research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring graduate students, and participating in departmental and university activities. Salary is negotiable, depending upon qualifications and experience. The department offers B.A., M.A., Au.D., and Ph.D. degrees and is one of the largest Hearing and Speech programs in the mid-Atlantic region (web page: http://www.bsos.umd.edu/hesp). It supports interdisciplinary initiatives and enjoys campus-wide research ties with the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science (NACS) Program, the Center for Comparative and Evolutionary Biology of Hearing (C-CEBH), the NSF IGERT Interdisciplinary Training Program in Language Science, and the new NACS-MD Neuro-imaging Center. The College Park campus is located in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area in close proximity to numerous world-renowned medical institutions and research facilities including the NIH, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
