International Summer School in Systematic Musicology 2011

The International Summer School in Systematic Musicology 2011 will take place at the Jyväskylä University Department of Music from 8th to 18th of August 2011. It focuses on the most advanced and up-to-date topics in systematic musicology and it’s research through an interactive and cooperative learning approach. Students will gain the most recent knowledge in the field of systematic musicology and attain the basic skills needed to start their doctoral studies. The Summer School provides a great opportunity for students to discuss their research proposals/project with an international body of teachers, representing a range of expertise in different domains of systematic musicology.


Key areas of interest this year are:

-     music, movement & embodiment
-     computational analysis of music and sound
-     music and emotion
-     interactive music systems
-     performance
-     social and cross-cultural perspectives


The application deadline is 15th of April, 2011.
