Postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Laboratory of Dr. Maria Neimark Geffen at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine to study the neural mechanisms of encoding of complex sounds in the auditory cortex of awake rodents. We invite applications from talented and motivated candidates with (or expecting) a Ph.D. in life sciences. The techniques include multi-neuronal and single-cell electrophysiological recordings, neuronal imaging and optogenetics in awake behaving rodents. Experience in either electrophysiology, imaging or behavioral studies is required. Computational skills are a plus. Our laboratory is part of the Hearing Sciences Center a at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Neuroscience Department and the Mahoney Institute of Neurological Sciences. University of Pennsylvania has a very active and growing systems neuroscience community, and there will be ample opportunity for collaboration both within the department and with laboratories in biology, physics and engineering.
