correlations between perception of speech sounds

I'm looking for published studies examining the relationship between identification scores for different types of speech stimuli (e.g., consonants, words, sentences). Ideally, I'd like to get such data for normal-hearing young adults, but if you know of results for other populations that would be useful as well (as long as the testing was conducted under the same conditions). Thanks in advance for any pointers.
