Music and Language II Conference

Tufts University

Medford, MA

July 10-13, 2008

Tufts University is hosting a conference on music and language July
10-13, 2008 at the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center.  Music and
Language II follows the successful conference held at Cambridge
University, UK in May 2007 on music and language as cognitive systems.

We invite presenters and participants from all fields (music,
psychology, linguistics, cognitive science, anthropology, etc) to
submit paper and poster abstracts and/or attend.  Paper and poster
submissions are due December 1, 2007.  Please visit our website at:

paper and poster submission forms should be submitted to Jessica
Shepard in the Office of the Provost at jessica.shepard@xxxxxxxxxx

We will also be honoring Ray Jackendoff, Seth Merrin Professor of
Philosophy at Tufts, and Fred Lerdahl, Fritz Reiner Professor of Music
at Columbia University.  This year marks the 25th anniversary of their
seminal work A Generative Theory of Tonal Music.

More information regarding registration and program specifics will be
