[LSO] The Intelligent Sound Project
http://www.intelligentsound.org/home.php has undertaken a great deal of
work on this matter.

At the web-site, one can find a link to their MIRocket framework, which
consists of several Winamp plug-ins that e.g. supplies, amongst other
things, a calculated genre for a song.
