Senior Lecturer in Audiology
£38,772 to £44,947 p.a. and
exceptionally up to £49,116 p.a.
The School
of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University
is seeking an enthusiastic audiologist/auditory scientist. The successful
applicant will provide leadership in the development and delivery of
educational programmes in audiology, and will contribute to the auditory
research programme at Aston.
Aston University offers both
undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in audiology and related fields and aims
to be a centre of excellence for audiology teaching and research. The research
programme in the School
of Life and Health
Sciences is internationally renowned for the interdisciplinary study of sensory
and cognitive function in normal and clinical populations, incorporating
auditory and visual science, psychology, pharmacology, and neuroimaging. Current
auditory research at Aston is wide-ranging and includes cochlear implants,
auditory scene analysis, binaural hearing, and speech perception, using a range
of techniques including psychophysics and neuroimaging. Additionally, a clinical
audiology research centre will become operational in 2006/7, and this centre
will support research into improved patient outcomes, as well as supporting our
taught programmes in audiology. This position offers a unique opportunity to
work within a highly-motivated and successful multidisciplinary research team
at an internationally competitive level.
Applicants will have clinical qualifications in
audiology and preferably a PhD in hearing, balance science, or a cognate area. The
successful applicant will be a highly-motivated teacher and researcher as well
as having a track record of successful leadership. Criminal records bureau
clearance will be required for this post.
