Dear List,

I have a question with regard to MIDI. Does the start bit and stop bit come 
before and after every 
byte of information or before and after every full MIDI message (status byte 
plus data bytes)?

For example is it:

0 (start bit)....1001 (note-on) 0000 (channel 1)....00111100 (note 
60)....01000000 (velocity 64)....1 
(stop bit)


or is it:


0 (start bit)....1001 (note-on) 0000 (channel 1)....1 (stop bit)....0 (start 
bit)....00111100 (note 
60)....1 (stop bit)....0 (start bit)....01000000 (velocity 64)....1 (stop bit)
