-Doctoral degree and eligibility for appointment at the rank of
Assistant or Associate Professor
-An established or emerging record of scholarly achievement including
peer-reviewed publications, an established or emerging program of
research, and a
successful history of extramural grant funding (or likelihood of
extramural funding within three years).
-Demonstrated ability to participate in a collegial environment that
fosters ongoing collaboration among faculty with diverse areas of
interest and expertise.
Preferred:
-Demonstrated success as PI of one or more NIH research and/or NRSA
grant awards, or comparable grants from other agencies
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications
for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track) in
the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, one of seven divisions in
the UNC School of Medicine’s Department of Allied Health Sciences. This
is a full-time (12-month cycle) tenure-track position. The Division of
Speech and Hearing Sciences has three degree programs: Ph.D. (Speech
and Hearing Sciences), Au.D. (Audiology), and M.S. (Speech-Language
Pathology). The successful candidate will have expertise in audiology
or hearing science and collaborate with faculty and graduate students
to advance our scholarly and educational missions. Among the primary
qualities we seek in this person is the ability to serve as a mentor to
Ph.D. students and/or junior faculty in areas related to research and
extramural funding. UNC - Chapel Hill is a Carnegie classified research
extensive institution serving approximately 25,000 students. Located in
the North Carolina Piedmont region in the heart of the Research
Triangle, Chapel Hill offers a rich intellectual and cultural community
with the advantages of mild climate, scenic beauty, and easy driving
distance to both the mountains and the coast. This is an exciting
opportunity to join a top-tier, highly collegial department in an
idyllic campus setting. Outstanding new departmental facilities with
dedicated laboratory space will be completed in November, 2005. Review
