Dear colleague,

You are hereby invited to our third interdisciplinary
conference

Neurophysiology of Developmental Disorders in Children

in Freiburg, Germany on the 12th and 13th of December 2003.
The conference will consist of invited lectures and free
communication (oral presentations or posters). -
Presentations and discussions will focus on the following
topics:

    * Dyslexia
    * Specific Language Impairment (SLI)
    * Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Preceding the conference there will be an introductory
workshop "Developmental Language Disorders" (December 11th,
2003, 14.00 to 18.30 h) that will provide relevant
background information on Dyslexia, SLI and ADHD and
familiarize participants with neurophysiological test
methods used in present-day research.

Registration fees:

Introductory Workshop: € 80

Conference: € 140
(for workshop participants: € 60)

The registration fee for the conference will be waived for
participants from the universities of Strasbourg, Basel,
and Freiburg.

Detailed overview over the individual topics:

Dyslexia

    * Developmental disorders in children as a continuum:
Co-morbidities and Correlations
    * Central auditory processing deficits in dyslexia
    * Neurophysiological correlates of dyslexia

Specific Language Impairment

    * How specific is the term "Specific Language
Impairment"?
    * Central auditory processing deficits in SLI
    * Behavioral data versus neurophysiological findings
    * Basic central auditory deficits versus deficits on
higher processing levels
    * Aspects of processing capacity:
      Auditory attention span, complexity of
acoustic-auditory sequences, complexity of parallel
bottom-up and top-down processing
    * Processing Negativity: Role and function of attention
mechanisms in basic central auditory processing

Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder

    * Profiling ADHD: What do attention deficits and
hyperkinetic symptoms have in common?
    * "Attention" at the intersection of different
development disorders
    * Neurophysiology of attention deficits
