ASSTA ELECTRONIC MAIL BULLETIN NUMBER 129

                                5 October 2000

Hidden Markov Toolkit (HTK) is now free!
                 Praat speech analysis, synthesis software

ASR developers and researchers may be interested to know that the HTK
software (formerly from Entropic now owned by Microsoft) can be
downloaded for *free* from the HTK respository at Cambridge, UK:

                         http://htk.eng.cam.ac.uk/

The current version 3.0.0 is functionally equivalent to the last
    release from Entropic.

And while I'm at it, you may also be interested in the following free
software called Praat which is a self-contained binary and environment
(easy to install and use) for speech analysis, synthesis and more:

                         http://www.praat.org

  Enjoy!
