Where should I go from here?

Hi,
this is my first post to the list. As a very short bio I can say I am a
programmer (groupware), trained economist/statistician and on free time a
musician and sound designer. I had my first encounter with synthetizers a few
years before the advent of MIDI. I am familiar with most type of synthesis, in
particular those kind reproducible with Csound.

Lately I have finished reading Music, Cognition, and Computerized Sound : An
Introduction to Psychoacoustics edited by Cook. Which I enjoyed enormously.
I have brushed up some basics with The Computer Music Tutorial by Roads.
I am almost finished with  Auditory Scene Analysis : Perceptual Organization of
Sound by Bregman, (I loved the analogy with a person standing on the shore of a
lake asked to describe the scene by feeling the waves on the water).
and I am really struggling through Psychoacoustics : Facts and Models  by
Zwicker, et al.

The reason of the post is that I would like to ask where do you think I should
proceed from here, I have found some difficulty with measurement units
(especially in Zwicker's book) and I was wondering whether Signals, Sound, and
Sensation (Modern Acoustics and Signal Processing) by Hartmann could help or if
there is some other more concise resource, maybe on the net.

Are there some landmark or basic articles/publications I should absolutely read
before I venture any further? I know this is a very vast field maybe I should be
a bit more specific about what area might interest me. I consider myself as a
first year student on the subject, and so far I haven't particularly enjoyed
speech recognition and anatomy of the ear (however the whole field would not
have much sense if we did not have ears).
