spectrally rotated speech
Dear Auditory List,
Does anyone have a sound demo of "spectrally rotated speech?"
If I understand correctly, this is a signal processing algorithm which
reflects the resonances of the vocal tract about a chosen frequency
(i.e. a formant 200 hz below the chosen frequency becomes a formant 200
Hz above it, and so on). The technique was explored by Blesser in a
thesis at MIT, where he found that people could learn to communicate in
this form of speech.
