Blood sugar level affecting cochlea

Dear List,

Can anyone tell me if blood sugar level affects the functioning of the
cochlea (especially basilar membrane and outer hair cells)? For example,
would a low blood sugar level be detectable by a change in otoacoustic
emissions?

Many thanks,
Kevin
