Abstract:
Early recollections included making things, riding bikes, sailing, boy scouts, skiing, many of the usual things that a father does with his son, but his father, Paul was different. He wanted us to learn why and how did it work; was there a better way of doing it? This atmosphere created a desire for learning and innovation. The author's father encouraged his education and revelled as he approached his field of electron-beam lithography from experiment and the machine shop, much as he approached acoustics. The author's brother, Mark, a wonderful craftsman, developed a new French Horn, with the help of his father's patient advice and occasional prodding. A few anecdotes illustrate a lifetime of memories.
