Abstract:

In this paper, noise analysis of the optical fiber sensor array system based on the phase generated carrier (PGC) technique with time division multiplexing (TDM) will be discussed. In this system, the laser beam with sinusoidal frequency modulation from a laser diode is gated by a LN(LiNbO[inf 3]) intensity modulator, amplified by a booster erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) sent into array. The returned pulses from the sensor array are amplified by pre-EDFA, converted to electric pulses, and demultiplexed into each channel by the analog switch followed by the interpolation filter, and finally demodulated. Results of both noise analysis and experimental data will also be discussed.
