A new method to separate detected underwater sound waves propagating in opposite directions is presented in the paper. In the first part, the theoretical basis is provided with the derivation of related formula. The directivity pattern of reception is drawn. Then the experimental results are given in detail, which show good agreement with the theoretically predicted tendency. The factors causing the error are analyzed. Last, the further improvement of accuracy of experiment is suggested.
