An exact solution for the acoustic coupling function from a focused transducer to a flat plate and back to the transducer (the diffraction correction function) is provided. This function is useful for the system calibration where is pulse-echo system or transmit--receive system is used. Numerical results will be presented for the case where the reference plate is placed near the focal plane of the transducer. The solution for a flat disk transducer is obtained as a limiting case.
